Content:Spring 2009 Todo

Let's put up a list of areas of the website that need some TCL sometime soon. Stuff that's outdated, stuff that needs overhauling, stuff that's broken.

Short Term

• The e-mail at the bottom of each page is broken (this is part of the Barndoor project)

• Nothing special, but the first thing I noticed are the homepage graphics for the different groups. They might need some updating - redoing. Its honestly nothing important, but if we catch time - the whole metaphors behind group names and graphics (its icons) could be altered.

• There's news in the CS department! ~ part ; definitely needs updating: we should be there and bunch of other news, right?

• About the department~

Add images perhaps?; of: -Facilities -Staff etc.

• The email links are not functional - not shown.

This here?? Top right corner - make those areas (text) in similar links/sites on the webpage - more interesting;or if not changing it, change its positions. So unnatural for me - my opinion.

• • NOTE: Remove all of them / change them all.

• The courses information site: looks pretty decent, wouldn't say there's something to be changed; but therefore I am asking you: do you think something should be changed or it gives sufficient description? Add more details or just tweak it a bit? Link it it original curriculum guide online if needed- it does exist right? :O

-and similar-up to you.

• • Gathering all the info about the varying courses - and create database of our about it.

• • The whole academics part of the site could be revisited - probably needs changing and updating.
    • Same idea of database.

• Alumni DB - errored - php extension I think - it might cause of that; not sure - needs changing - making it work: whatever it was.
  • Needs to removed.

• IRC:

Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (irc) isn't associated with any program.

• Links page ~ more links? Why not?

Well that would be about it from my first run through the page; well yea as you noticed I just noticed pretty obvious stuff-but I hope it is ok for beginning.I will try to be more of help later on; but as you can see I am real CONTENT guy - I only 'complained' about the content of the specific aspect. ~Vlado [01/21/09] (Maybe keeping dates is good idea)

Longer Term

• Tracy is working with someone to update the alumni pages for physics and other departments, and we might want to follow his template to update our alumni page
• We need to go through and make all the links point either to cgi-bin or ../cgi-bin
