Linuxcare/ Levanta
- Linuxcare, Inc. (Google Finance) - RIP, Levanta (Linux.com) - Linuxcare is a public company. - Linuxcare is the first major Linux support company. - Levanta laid off all employees on March 31, 2008.
Sun Microsystems

- Paul Vixie seems to be involved in a few different areas. He cofounded the Internet Systems Consortium, and now works for the non-profit company supporting projects such as BIND that he originally developed. Additionally, he works as a freelance consultant.

Netscape
- Netscape has been absorbed into AOL, LCC, a publicly traded company. - AOL has announced they will stop supporting Netscape software as of March 1, 2008 - The brand is used to market a discount internet service provider, and a social news website. - The netscape source code was released under GPL, providing the basis of the mozilla browser.

Apple
- AAPL, NASDAQ - Webkit, the framework used by the safari web browser is an open source project - mDNSResponder, apple's 'Bonjour,' a service discovery daemon - Darwin, the UNIX core of mac os x is licensed under apple's APSL. Early revisions met harsh criticism from the fsf, and open source community, however the the FSF and Apple have worked together to produce APSL 2.0, which resolves the problems of "Central Control" and possibility of revocation. The APSL 2.0 is not compatible with the GPL, and is not consider copyleft because it allows for linking to proprietary files.
