Using minicom with Sonde

  • Enabling VT100 emulation in the sonde will make it clearer to use the menu. To do this, set Main > Advanced > Advanced setup > VT100 emulation.
  • Many of the sonde commands and menus available via RS-232 are documented in the YSI sonde manual. However, there are some that are worth noting here.
  • Typing "run" at the sonde prompt will cause the sonde to print data lines after a pause of a few seconds. The printing of lines continues until a "0" is sent to the sonde. The "0" will cause the sonde to immedaitly stop printing at a new line without echoing the "0". Which data values are printed can be set in the sonde menu Main > Report.
