Energy Monitoring Primary Goal

With the test run of the WattNode on a 120 VAC system under our belt, we decided to install a WattNode on the 240 VAC line powering the Miller Farm electric water heater to see if actual energy usage was in line with our estimates.

Monitoring Setup

We mounted the WattNode securely next to the breaker box in the Miller Farmhouse basement. With main breaker turned off, we snapped two current transformers around the two hot 120 VAC wires heading to the hot water heater. We then installed a conduit in the side of the breaker box so we could connect the leads from the current transformers to the WattNode, and run wires to supply in phase energy to the WattNode.
