We are considering a 3-week pre-health summer program with the following features: - 12 motivated, high achieving students interested in a health career - 2 faculty from the sciences - an overaching public health project that will span the entire program - exposure to a variety of health careers - readings/discussions on humanity in medicine and ethics - science labs with health emphasis - possible Fall internship


Questions: 1. Are there local public health issues that can be explored/researched/addressed by a group of motivated students and faculty during a 3 week summer course? This program can be continued over the 4 year timeframe of the grant.

2. Are there ways that we can work with local health care providers to expose students to the different possible careers in health?
