The process starts with a design in an STL file format. The computers in Babbage are equipped with OpenSCAD software, as well as Fusion 360. however, any design software can be used as long as the file is exported in an .stl format. For the Lulzbot Taz 5, Cura is used to preparing the design for printing and control the printer. The actual printing takes a long time and requires a lot of patience especially when ensuring a good first layer. Sit down to print with a mind open to repeated failure, only then will you be able to achieve a successful print worthy of your time and the resources used.
